This post comes two months too late... sorry! Just been so busy with life and work in general that I haven't had time to really sit down to read my emails, let alone write a blog...
But I was just looking at how I shared christmas decoration ideas and well, thought that I should be documenting all my event coordination a bit better. I'm thinking of starting either a blog or simple website for my own event coordination purpose, just so that potential clients can focus on my work rather than have to sift through my random thoughts and words. :)
What do you think? Should I start a blog on event coordination? Or a website that is more like an online portfolio (and words are kept to a bare minimum)?
Ok, so in February... yes I think this year's Chinese New Year (CNY) was in Feb... anyways I decorated the office a bit, something simple, but just wanted to share with you. To be truthful, it's quite difficult to not go overboard and just do everything in RED AND GOLD! I think in some cases it would be absolutely wonderful to just go all out and test the extent of what I can cover in red and gold, but this being a professional office environment I wanted to bring the celebratory atmosphere and blessing of Chinese New Year whilst keeping it still a non-distracting environment from normal work.
This is actually the first year that I've ever decorate for CNY. In the past, I was never in HK during CNY (either at uni or else we would travel during the CNY holidays), so the most we did during CNY was to visit relatives for red pockets, and most families only stick up a couple of "Fai Chun" (Well wishes, such as 'Good business in the new year', 'safe travels', 'good grades' etc.)
I found a whole bunch of knick knacks that I thought were really nice for decorating, but didn't really have a good idea of how to put them all together to make it look modern and professional.
Also, I really wanted to get a real cherry blossom tree, but unfortunately, we didn't have the space for it in the office.... so I made do with silk flowers.
While researching for CNY symbols and
decoration ideas, I found out that a lot of the decorations have specific meanings. You will see a lot of reds used and knots, these knots used to be hand-made and supposedly while you were making these knots, you would pray/make benevolent wishes and these are a symbol of the giver's benevolent wishes for you for the new year.
Two months late...
Wishing you and your family happiness and health in the Year of the Rabbit!
