At the end of summer, Tien left Toronto to go back to Vietnam... in order to make her miss us even more we gave her an amazing time to remember us by...
We sat through some of the hottest days of summer to sell some of the stuff we have in the house... it was quite fun, we had fun bargaining with passerbys and also had a chance to take photos and laugh.... hehehe
We drove to Sauble Beach, north of Toronto, about 5 hours drive!
Here are some photos...
Spent a beautiful sunny day at the beach with volleyball, barbecue, and great friends and lots of laughter! =)
Indulged our inner child on the swings... see how high we can go!
Remember, the sky's the limit for all our dreams!
Throughout the summer, N.T. and I tried to make the perfect fluffy puff pastry... the first batch of course was not very good, it's really hard to handle butter and things like that...
First we tried to make some peach tarts, as peaches were in season and were exceptionally sweeeeetttt!
The pastry looks really good doesn't it? but it was a bit crunchy..... lol.... and some of it didn't rise into layers.... let's see our second attempt
We tried a different recipe, and it turned out a bit better....
hehehe, the pastry dough looks almost like dumpling dough right?
and just wait till you see the finished product, piping hot egg tarts!!!!!
TA-DA!!!!!
Hehehe, I think this is going to be a pretty long post, or at least one that will be full of photos (not words, so don't worry....)
Well the last wedding that I took photos of was sometime in the summer, after this following photograph I didn't bother taking anymore because the whole thing was quite disappointing most of the time....
So here, the centerpiece is once again very simple, just an orchid branch in water with a water-proof light that is dropped into the vase and water, that's why it's illuminated like that. We also did the back drop that is behind the head table... quite a bit of work there... =)
Might be a tad difficult to see as it's lit up and fuzzy background.....
Next a family friend of Tien's and N.T's came to visit and on her second last day in Toronto, she cooked for us, so here are some photos of one of the dishes, which is something like a rice flour patty with mashed green bean paste and shredded dried shrimps (centre).....
A rice flour based batter was made and steamed in a pan with little dips to make the patties (above)
And the dreaded task of slicing onions, this is how we dealt with it... lol....
And the final product....
yummyyyy
